Led by head coach Tommy Brown, the Flames finished the season at 26-8. Brown had taken Lee into the Division I national event for the fourth straight year. The Flames had won five straight and six of their last seven starts coming into the tournament. Lee claimed the Southern States Athletic Conference Title.

Joe Lewellen escorted the team as Honorary Coach for a second time in three years. Carrying forward a Lewellen family tradition started by Bob Lewellen in 1959 in which this year marks their 39th year of sponsorship and Joe's 23rd team.

Led by head coach Tommy Brown, the Flames finished the season at 22-10 and had qualified for an at-large berth in the tournament. Brown took Lee into the Division I national event for the second straight year. They tipped off the 2000th NAIA Division I tournament game in Kansas City!
